A lifelong resident of Los Angeles, Jonah is literally living his third act in life as an actor, voice over artist, director, producer, writer and overall creative force after spending his early life in radio, 20+ years running two businesses and a brief detour as a studio executive.
Growing up, Jonah was fascinated with radio, spending 12 years in the industry as a board op, imaging director, producer and on-air talent with folks like Rick Dees, Dr. Laura Schlessinger, Bill Handel and others. Jonah was the Executive Producer/Comedy Writer of the Phil Hendrie Show at KFI Radio in Los Angeles, exiting the show after three years when the Internet came a calling.
In 1996, Jonah launched CBR.com. He took it from a small business birthed in his bedroom to a site that boasted 10+ million monthly readers with a studio located in Los Angeles, CA. The site became synonymous with the comics industry and a leader in pop culture news online, a three-time winner of the Eisner Award for Best Comics Related Periodical/Journalism and was known for fascinating convention executions, such as the CBR Tiki Room at New York Comic Con or the CBR Yacht at Comic-Con International in San Diego, hosting writers, actors, producers and artists from Comics & Hollywood. Jonah sold CBR in 2016.
I am well versed in the many uses of the word “fuck.”
Jonah sold a second business in 2016, a Web hosting company, which provided specialized services for an august list of clients that included Comic-Con International, Marilyn Manson, the Los Angeles Times Syndicate, Showtime Networks, Image Comics and others.
From 2016 – 2019, Jonah traveled extensively, exploring countries around the world including his new favorite spot, Spain, where he hopes to split his time one day.
In 2019, Jonah received a call from a friend at Warner Bros. who invited him to join the executive team at DC Comics as the VP of Marketing & Creative Services, but after a year discovered the corporate desk life wasn’t for him and his life long goal of pursuing a career as an actor became his top priority, thus starting his third act in life.
I firmly believe carbs aren’t evil, lifestyle is!
Jonah’s studied acting for 10 years, primarily Meisner technique with Fran Montano at Actor’s Workout Studio, was a member of IAMA Theatre‘s inaugural Actor’s Summer Inensive in 2023, and has also studied at acting schools such as Groundlings, Baron Brown Studio, The Artists Space and with actor/teacher James Eckhouse.
In 2024, Jonah reunited with Phil Hendrie to co-write and direct THE WORLD OF PHIL HENDRIE at TheatreWest in Los Angeles, CA. After the success of the one-night only show, it was expanded and returned in March of 2025 as THE GALAXY OF PHIL HENDRIE in 2025, with two sold out shows. Plans are being made to take the show on the road.
In June of 2025, Jonah produced and co-starred in the world premiere of stuck at the 2025 Hollywood Fringe Festival. The play was a 50 minute two-hander about total strangers who find themselves stuck together in a broken elevator in New York City. The play explored themes of broken families, loneliness, trauma and queer identities.
In July of 2025, Jonah is off to the vaunted Edinburgh Fringe as producer of the show Jello Brain, which had its premiere at the 2024 Hollywood Fringe (originally named I’ll Be With You In A Minute).
In addition to on camera work, Jonah spends time behind the microphone as a voice actor, having recorded sessions as a dubbing actor for Netflix and providing voice work to online trailers.
Jonah currently lives in Burbank, enjoys volunteering and mentoring grade schoolers with Young Storytellers, is an expert bread baker & fresh pasta maker and loves tending to his garden and his chickens!
